PROFESSOR MICHAEL HECHT, Head
This major provides increased understanding and practice in the ways that humans accomplish their goals by means of oral communication. The ability to communicate effectively with others in personal, social, and work situations is basic in modern society. The flexibility of the program allows preparation for a variety of careers such as law, education, business, agriculture, administration, and the health-related fields. Speech Communication lends itself readily to a simultaneous degree or a multiple major degree program in which students prepare themselves in several fields of study.
For the B.A. degree in Speech Communication, a minimum of 124 credits is required.
