This major offers three options: Music Theatre, Production, and Stage Management. All three options are intended to provide students with specialized training leading to a high level of competence in their respective fields. Graduates should be able to begin professional work or pursue further training at the graduate level. The Music Theatre option is offered by the Department of Theatre Arts and jointly supported by the School of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts. It is intended for those students who wish to pursue a career as a music theatre professional. The Production option is offered by the Department of Theatre Arts and is intended to train students in the areas of scenery, lighting, costume, and technical direction. The Stage Management option is offered by the Department of Theatre Arts and is intended to train students for a career in stage management for theatre.

For the B.F.A. degree in Theatre Arts with the Music Theatre option, a minimum of 125 credits is required; with the Production option, a minimum of 135 credits is required; with the Stage Management option, a minimum of 128 credits is required.
