THEA 408W History of American Musical Theatre (3)

A survey of the history of American musical theatre presented in a social, cultural, and aesthetic prospective. This course traces the development of the American musical from 1800 to 2014 and explores specific repertoire of the period through in depth analysis of scores and scripts, in order to engage with critical writing about musical theatre and its cultural impact.
