An integral part of student success, academic advising is provided to all undergraduate students. The intention of academic advising is to engage students in meaningful conversations about learning, academic opportunities, and the ways that all aspects of the University curriculum serve to shape a meaningful education for students at Penn State. Academic advisers also are uniquely positioned to help students understand the policies and procedures that govern undergraduate degree completion and to refer students to other appropriate resources across Penn State that are intended to promote student learning and success. While academic advisers are available to help a student schedule each semester's courses, their primary role is to discuss with the student the broad meaning of their University education and to collaboratively plan for reaching the student’s academic goals. Each student is assigned a primary academic adviser in their college, school, or the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Students can find their adviser's name and contact information using Starfish.
